Joomla!’s multi-award-winning team of developers today released version 1.0 of Joomla!.
The team, which developed the world’s most popular Open Source content management system, have been working their magic since the Joomla! brand was announced — just 17 days ago.
Lead developer Andrew Eddie praised the development team and the Joomla! community for their work and support.
“Baby Joomla! has cut its first tooth with the release of Joomla! v1.0,” he said. “This will be the first milestone in the Joomla! story… everyone knows how important this day is, so everyone should celebrate the freedom.”
Joomla! website creation software is released under GNU GPL. Joomla! 1.0 is now available for download at developer.joomla.org.
The Joomla! Forge is up and ready to accept projects. VA Software has kindly donated SourceForge Enterprise Edition and 2 dual xeon servers for it to run on so this is going to give Joomla! a premiere solutions for project development. I'm sure we'll have some teething problems as things are quite a bit different from the old GForge implementation, there are some limitations that we will work diligently to overcome but I think you'll find the project management capabilities to be superb!
Check out the Joomla! Forge forum area if you have any questions.

What is Joomla! ?
Joomla! is a production of Open Source Matters, the same team that brought you the award winning Mambo Content Management System. OSM has taken their final stable version of Mambo (188.8.131.52), given it a spring clean and named it Joomla! 1.0. In addition, several small features that were going to be released in Joomla! 1.1 have been brought forward and included in this release.
