Joomla! 1.0.1 will be released on September 21, 2005 at 16:00:00 UTC time.

This will be a Stability Release, which means it will not have any new features, it will only contain fixes, to bugs discovered in the 1.0.0 release.

This release has as its primary objective 'Stability' - hence the term Stability Release.

1.0.0 contains No Critical bugs and No Security threats. However there are several annoying bugs which diminish the full potential of the system. This 1.0.1 Stability Release fixes these non-critical but annoying bugs.

1.0.1 will be available as a Patch Upgrade package, with only affected files or as a Full Distribution package. A instruction set on how to Upgrade from 1.0.0 will be made available when 1.0.1 is released.

With Stability Releases we will be adopting a more transparent and fixed release schedule, which we will announce shortly.

Some will ask why these bugs were not discovered before we released 1.0.0 The answer is that unfortunately with a Software Application of this complexity some bugs will not become apparent until they are run on a wide range of production environments. Before the 1.0.0 Release we actually distributed seven (7) `Release Candidate` versions to internal Joomla! support members for testing.

However, the number of bugs discovered in 1.0.0 points to the fact that we need to employ a more rigorous Quality Assurance Testing regimen for Releases. To this end we will be announcing a new initiative in relations to this.
