Joomla!Day The Netherlands 2008 :: Building Bridges The Dutch Joomla! community is pleased to invite you to the third annual Dutch Joomla! Days (Joomladagen) Conference and Expo on April 4 and 5 in historic and beautiful Utrecht, the Netherlands at the Meeting Plaza Conference Centre. Joomladagen is a great opportunity to learn, network with other Joomla! users and developers, and to discover ways you can contribute to the Joomla! Project.

Joomla! is an international award-winning open source content management system broadly deployed worldwide with more than 3.5 million downloads. The recently released Joomla! 1.5 has already been downloaded over 200,000 times in less than two months. It's anticipated that upwards of 500 people will attend this conference where six keynote and 30 parallel sessions are scheduled over the course of the two day event. You are encouraged to register as early as possible in case the event sells out.

The 2008 Joomladagen theme is "Building Bridges." Friday focuses on topics of interest for the business community and Saturday's sessions are geared towards the developer community. Many well known national and international speakers will address conference attendees, including Wilco Jansen, James Vasile, Louis Landry, Johan Janssens, Alex Kempkens, Mitch Pirtle, Clint Oram, and Arno Zijlstra. Around twenty companies are sponsoring this event and will provide information about commercial Joomla! services on the exhibition floor.

Business Community

On Friday, April 4, the conference will focus on topics helpful to commercial service suppliers, business decision makers, as well as end users interested in building high-quality Joomla! Web sites. Since integration between Web environments is an increasingly critical aspect of many business implementations, speakers from Drupal, Typo3, and sugarCRM will present powerful integration strategies. Other session topics include emerging business applications, hardening security, scaling Joomla! for larger implementations, and using Joomla! 1.5 extensions.

Developer Community

On Saturday, April 5, the focus will shift to the Joomla! developer community. Whether you're a professional developer, IT director, hosting company, or just considering future activities in those areas, you'll benefit from these insightful sessions. Rarely will so many experienced Joomla! core developers be on hand to share valuable observations and strategies for development using the Joomla! 1.5 Model View Controller architecture.

Topics such as templating, migration, installation, Mootools, and upgrading legacy extensions will be discussed in detail. Additionally, an informative session on what has been termed "Web 2.0" technology and mashups will help guide attendees in taking advantage of the growing supply of Web services as well as the emergence of the Semantic Web and microformats.

Joomla! Days are well attended worldwide. A key benefit of attendance is the opportunity to connect with hundreds of members of the Joomla! community, speakers, Joomla! developers, members of the core team, and the Open Source Matters board. There will be ample opportunity for networking between sessions, at lunch, during the evening social hour and at dinner. The Dutch Joomla! community has been hard at work to ensure the 2008 Dutch Joomla! Days is both informative and fun as they eagerly look forward to another successful conference.
