Ric, 30, of Kent, United Kingdom, is an IT manager and discovered Mambo in 2003 while looking for a corporate CMS. He now spends his time coding Open Source systems for companies that don't have large IT budgets. He says he is constantly in search of elegant solutions to coding problems, lives in the Object Orientated camp of coding and loves a good framework, Joomla! being his framework of choice. This comes from his corporate Java background which was soon dropped when PHP5 hit the servers. Apart from computers, he's worked as an illustrator designing collectibles such as Noddy and Thunderbirds and in the film and television industry as a CGI artist on several Hollywood projects and a handful of low budget satellite channels.

Shayne Bartlett

Born 1969 his first computer was an Apple IIe in the early 80's. After moving to Sydney Australia, Shayne spent the first half of his working life in the music industry. In the mid 90's he moved into the IT industry working for tier one resellers and major PC companies including Gateway. After moving to Albany in Western Australia Shayne discovered open source and spent a year playing with the Nukes before discovering Mambo 4.0 and never looked back. Currently he is the Business Development Director for an IT consultancy and spends much of his spare time working on or around Joomla!.

Rey's Open Source involvement started with Mambo while at Uni in mid 2003 while looking for something to run a Sports Assoc site. He fell in love and began learning php and mysql, then started releasing a few small modules. This somehow led to an invitation into the Mambo Core Team. Rey now heads up the Jooma Stability team.

With a background far removed from the IT sector, Rey's formal education was in Economics and Sports & Recreation Administration. His interests outside the IT sphere are in the field of Sports Administration.

When not ensconced in front of a computer, Rey can be found Coaching and Refereeing Touch Rugby and playing Rugby or organizing Rugby & Touch Rugby tournaments.

Johan Janssens

At the age of 10, Johan began programming very simple games on his Commodore 64 and the first x86 a few years later. Later on he learned himself to program in C/C++ and PHP. Emir was born in Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He became interested in electronics and computers very early programming C64 and Atari. His interest in electronics and software drove him to a MSc degree in Electrical Engineering. He discovered Mambo and joined the project in its early days in 2002. As a previous core developer of Mambo, Emir developed many addons, bug fixes and enhancements for both Joomla! and Mambo.

Rob was cursed with an insatiable curiosity at birth that lead him to spend significant portions of his existence staring deeply into the internals of various gadgets, gizmos and apparatuses. This curiosity eventually drove him into the world of Open Source Content Management Systems and Web Application Security where he now spends most of his waking life. Marko's interest in computers started with the first release of the Commodore C64, but it switched fast to the first available IBM XT computer in mid 80's. He then started programming in Assembler, Cobol and C++. When he discovered the Internet in it's early days, he loved to work with HTML and PHP. Marko, for the last 8 years, has worked on open source projects. At first, he worked on his own projects, then he moved on CMS projects like phpnuke and postnuke. Jean-Marie was born a long time ago in France. He received a very classic education and got married a few times. Former news reporter from 1969 to 1985, wearing multiple hats (NHK TV, Gamma, freelance for many magazines), he focused on post-colonial conflicts (Africa, Middle-East, Central America) as well as social conflicts in Europe.
He moved to Sonoma, California (1985-1992) and worked there as an advertising photographer, specialising in the Wine industry. He got addicted to an Apple IIC in the mid-eighties and started computer designing, as well as beta-testing. He now owns a one-man Computer Graphic and Web Design in France.

A qualified French chef, Nic hung his apron up in the mid-1990's and moved into the non-profit, disability rights sector while living in the USA. Brian Teeman

Originally a youth worker dealing with severely disturbed youngsters Brian was involved in publishing some of the largest multimedia CD-ROMS of the late 90's. In 2000 Brian helped to launch the first ISP for UK Linux users (www.uklinux.net). Trijnie was born in Groningen, The Netherlands in 1971. Her first steps on the information highway started in 1996 and was immediately impressed by the information, design and structure of websites.
