Visit: http://www.cepead.face.ufmg.br
The Cepead, Center for Post-Graduate Studies and Research on Administration - [UFMG - Brazil], launches this month of May your new Web site. The purpose of this change was to build an interface in a modern structure intuitive to use and also improve the process of updating and distribution of information.
With this new site the information has become accessible with a few clicks. A good example is the type of cascading menu, located at the top of the site, which allows access to any area with one click.
To improve the process of updating and dissemination of information the new version was developed on the platform free of CMS (Content Management System) Joomla!. The advantage of working with a CMS is the diversity of information and the differential that can be offered to the end user in a clear and objective.
It was conducted a study of the structure and the demand for upgrades by the team of web development along with the teachers responsible for the Center to find the best way to the new site.
The news site are for the account of the areas of focus, where the news will be inserted for greater expression, and the area of news that will make their items in order of date. Both area did not exist in previous site, which somehow delaying the display of important information.
A major challenge was to find a way to better organize the content so that future updates are intuitive and therefore easy to achieve.
The launch of this new site represents a bet on strengthening communication with all teachers, officials, students and the whole community built around the UFMG.

Durban South Africa
The South African Joomla! community is pleased to invite you to the first Durban Joomla! Day South Africa event on May 9 and 10, at Varsity College, Durban North.
Joomla! Day is a great opportunity to learn, network with other Joomla! users and developers, and to discover ways you can contribute to the uptake of Joomla! in South Africa.
Joomla! is an award-winning free open source content management system enabling webmasters and amateurs alike to build and administer feature-rich, powerful web sites without having to have an extensive knowledge of web programming languages. Joomla! is broadly deployed worldwide with more than 3.5 million downloads. In its first two months, the latest release (Joomla! 1.5) has already been downloaded over 200,000 times.
There are nearly 3000 extensions to the system, covering virtually every feature one might need on a site.
There are also thousands of free and commercial templates.
The support forum is extremely active, with 180,000 members and over 1.2 million posts!
Joomla! Days are well attended worldwide. A key benefit of attendance is the opportunity to connect with hundreds of members of the Joomla! community, speakers, Joomla! developers, and members of the Joomla! Southern African Portal.
There will be ample opportunity for networking. The South African Joomla! community has been hard at work to ensure the 2008 Joomla! Day events are both informative and fun as they eagerly look forward to another year of successful conferences, following three events which were run in 2007.

DateCafe is a new Dating (הכרויות in Hebrew) website powered by Joomla!, which offers a free dating service. Beside Joomla!, DateCafe makes use of many of its powerfull extensions.
Among those extensions:
* Community Builder (for extended users profile)
* CB Advanced Search (to enable filter searches by any field defined in CB)
* AEC (for user membership control)
* JACLPlus (for multiple access levels)
* UddeIM (to enable private messaging)
* Fireboard (for forums)
* MyBlog (for user blogging)
* and many other useful plug-ins and modules which make DateCafe a live and eye candy site.
In the near future DateCafe plans to add more add-ons like: private and personal calendar for each user, astrological matching system, chat, live-messenger-like communication system, SMS system & more.
DateCafe uses the Firefly tempate by Yootheme, because of its neat and dark look and the fact that it offers very flexible module positions.
For now DateCafe is only for Hebrew speaking people, which means that all the extensions (including the template) were modified for RTL (right to left) support.
